Firewood FAQ
- What is the difference between seasoned, Semi-Seasoned, and Kiln dried firewood?
- Seasoned Firewood: This wood has been cut and allowed to air dry for an extended period, usually at 12 months. The moisture content is typically around 30%+ or lower, making it easier to ignite and burn more efficiently, producing more heat and less smoke.
- Semi-Seasoned Firewood: This wood is partially dried but hasn't reached the optimal moisture content of seasoned wood. Typically, 0-3 months in age. It may still burn, but not as efficiently as fully seasoned wood, potentially producing more smoke and less heat.
- Kiln-Dried Firewood: This wood has been dried in a kiln, a controlled environment that speeds up the drying process. Kiln-dried firewood generally has a moisture content of around 6% to 12%, making it ready to burn immediately. It tends to ignite easily and burns very efficiently, with minimal smoke.

In summary, the key differences lie in the drying process and moisture content, which affect how well the wood burns.
- Do the prices include delivery?
- No, delivery is calculated based on your zip code when checking out.
- I ordered bags (1/2 or full-face cord) when can I expect my delivery?
- We supply many commercial accounts as was residential. We route our bag truck as follows:
- WEST, from Sagtikos parkway to NYC, is routed to be delivered Monday/Tuesday
- Mid, From Sagtikos parkway to William Floyd Parkway, is routed to be delivered Tuesday/Wednesday.
- East, from William Floyd Pkwy to Montauk/Orient, Thursday/Friday.
- The schedule above may change depending on volume of orders in an area.
- How much wood is a full cord?
- 4x4x8 or 128 cubic feet. The unit of measurement, Cord, is a volume measurement. To calculate how much wood you could store you must measure Length x Height x Width.
- How big are the pieces of wood?
- The wood is cut 14"-21" with an average size of 16"-18". Since it is machine cut and split you may get some larger partially split or unsplit pieces.
- What kind of wood is it?
- The firewood consists of mixed hardwoods.
- What is the difference between a Face Cord (50 bags) and a Full Cord (Bulk)
-
The terms "face cord" and "full cord" refer to measurements of firewood.
**Face Cord**: A face cord is typically a stack of firewood that measures 4 feet high, 8 feet long, and is filled with wood that is cut to a standard length (usually 16 inches). However, the actual volume of wood can vary depending on how tightly the wood is stacked. Typically, a face cord is 1/3 of a full cord.
**Full Cord**: A full cord is a standard unit of measurement for firewood, which measures 4 feet high, 4 feet wide, and 8 feet long, totaling 128 cubic feet of space. A full cord contains more wood than a face cord, as it is denser and requires more space.
When purchasing firewood, it’s important to know these differences to ensure you're getting the right amount for your needs!
